Pop Up Workshops
Our tuition-free pop up workshops are curated one-hour visual art workshop led by our teaching artist(s). These sessions include a variety of art mediums such as photography, watercolor, oil pastels, clay and more. All of our programming includes a literacy component, maker space and nonjudgmental critique. Our pedagogy is to implement an interdisciplinary creative teaching philosophy rooted in the Reggio Emilia approach, inquiry-based studio practice and social/emotional wellness.
The Reggio Emilia approach is defined as a philosophy that values children as central to their own learning, able to pursue their own interests, and that they revisit and build upon ideas at their own pace. This perspective makes art a tool for creating meaning to help children build their ideas, thoughts, theories, and perspectives and to construct a new understanding of the subject.
Our teaching artists will create learning experiences, guiding the conversation to promote authentic thinking, inclusivity, creativity and problem-solving, which are all necessary, critical life skills needed in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields. Participants will expand their linguistic, social/emotional, cognitive, and physical development skills.
Our curriculum incorporates the National Core Arts Standards AND California Visual and Performing Arts Standards.
